Get Walking Week 2013
It is being organised and run by both Ramblers (Britain's walking charity) and Macmillan Cancer Support. Its aim is simple; to get people active and give them the chance to enjoy the freedom of outdoors. They believe that by enjoying the fresh air, the company of others and being active you will reep both physical and mental health benefits.
Get Walking Week is putting on hundreds of free short walks under 5 miles in length led by teams of experienced walk leaders. They have walks that cover the Great British countryside, our wonderful cities and even some of our gorgeous coastline. You can use their handy Group Walks Finder tool to find walks near you.
Obviously you will be needing some good quality walking shoes or boots for your travels ;-)
